Where do we come from?

The building company named Celander Ehituse OÜ was established in 2003 as a result of a merger of two enterprises – Celander Eesti AS and Merione OÜ, combining the former’s restoration experience of more than 100 years and the latter’s project management experience.

More than 100 years of experience

Åkermark, Celander & Co. was established in 1898 in Gothenburg in Sweden by seven well-acknowledged decoration painters.

Although the company initially provided finishing and painting services, which required high-level qualifications, the trademark of CELANDER covers the entire wide-ranging kaleidoscope of architectural restoration. And all the long-lived handicrafts, which have been tested and elaborated throughout the period of more than 100 years, live hand-in-hand with modern methods in the CELANDER concern.

Celander entered the Estonian market in 1997 when Celander Eesti AS, a building and restoration company, was established. The company focused mainly on the restoration and redesigning of buildings of high cultural and historical value. The best-known restored sites are the Kadriorg Palace, an apartment building on Süda Street and the Swedish St. Michael’s Church in Tallinn. We have also renovated the building at 3 Väike-Patarei Street in the district of Kalamaja, which now houses the Sustainable Renovation Information Centre.

Unique project management services

OÜ MERIONE, acting under the trademark RA Ehitus, was established by three private persons in 2002. The company dealt mainly with general contracting of medium-sized building projects, project management and also with the organisation of the financing of the building objects

. The best-known projects of RA Ehitus include the construction of an apartment building on 13 Roosikrantsi Street, the large-scale reconstruction works in the warehouses of Liiva Centre, and the construction of the deep-freezing warehouse and the office building of INGMAN Jäätised AS.

The project management service provided by RA Ehitus will be offered under the new business name as well. The said service may be called unique because of its comprehensive nature: the company analyses medium-sized building projects, helps to organise their financing and manages the preparation of the building in a manner most convenient to a client by offering the turnkey solution.
